SSH Telnet
Need to know what Telnet is and what it can be used for?
Secure Shell, also known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange data between a hosting server and a client. Because the info exchanged by the two sides is protected, a third party cannot intercept it, which makes SSH an ideal means of controlling a website hosting account. The commands that may be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared web server, for instance, the choices are limited because you will not have root access to the website hosting server, so you can simply create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, import and export databases, etc. They're all actions which are executed inside the shared hosting account and do not need a higher level of access. With a virtual or a dedicated server, you will be able to set up server-side software or to restart the machine or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, and if you do not use a UNIX-like Operating System, there are a number of applications for other OSs, which you can use to connect to the remote web server as well.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting
SSH access is featured with all
shared plans that we offer. With some of them, it is included as standard, while with others it is an additional upgrade you can add with a few clicks in your website hosting Control Panel. You can get SSH access from the section dedicated to it in which you shall also find the details that you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You could pick the password that you'll use and, if needed, you shall be able to change it with a few mouse clicks from the same spot. All commands which could be used with our shared packages are listed in a help article alongside relevant examples. If the SSH access feature is permitted for your account, you'll also be able to upload files using your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
SSH access is offered by default with some of our
semi-dedicated server solutions, while with others you are able to add it through the hosting Control Panel if necessary - even only for the current month. In any case, you are able to activate and de-activate the function with just one click from the SSH section of the Control Panel. In the same location, you'll see the server name, the port number and the username required to connect to our platform. You will also find a box in which you can input the password that you would like to use, since it doesn't need to be the same as the one you use to log into the CP. For better security, you may also change it as much as you want. A complete list of the commands that can be executed within a semi-dedicated account is supplied in our Knowledge Base, alongside the syntax and several examples. An extra feature after SSH access is enabled shall be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP using any FTP client that supports this kind of connections.
